A Little House in Bakah,
"Classically designed, city fringe, boutique
hotel."
A friendly boutique hotel, with
spacious rooms, an excellent cafe, high ceilings
and a retro spin back to the 1920s, this is
certainly one of the top picks in this price
range. The main drawbacks are the slightly
ambitious prices and the city fringe location.
Right on the road to Bethlehem, A Little House
in Bakah, with its unique stone facade, is easy
to spot. All rooms have carpeted floors, soft
pillows, TV, desk and twin or queen beds. A
highlight of the place is the Little Café in
Bakah, located in the basement, which serves
lasagne, quiche and seven types of sandwiches;
try the 'Bulgarian', which comes with sun-dried
tomatoes, basil and Bulgarian cheese. You can
sit and relax here for hours, surfing the
Internet, playing backgammon or kicking back
with a book.

Subject: Hi from Dan Gordon
I just got back from Israel, spending my first 4 nights at the Little
House in Bakah and really loved my stay there.
Ok, so if you're looking for a 4-star hotel this is definitely not it.
That said, let me tell you what I loved about the place.
The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was updated and spotless.
The bed was very comfortable. The room had a powerful AC unit which is
important in Israel. There was even a nice flat panel TV in the room.
While they didn't have free internet, there were several cafes in
walking distance that did. Speaking of which, Little House is in a
residential area so there were some terrific cafes, restaurants and a
wonderful bakery all within walking distance.
While you can find some of this stuff at other hotels in Jerusalem, what
I really liked about the Little House is that it felt like home. This
was my first trip to Israel and the Little House was my first
destination.
The staff there went out of their way to provide me with helpful options
for dining, shopping, finding my way around, etc. They were friendly,
chatty and more than just courteous. They were genuinely concerned with
my needs and did their best to see to them.
The best example of this was their help in finding me a hotel in Tel
Aviv. I decided to leave Jerusalem a day early and needed a last-minute
one-night hotel room in Tel Aviv. The woman at the desk spent 45 minutes
on the phone and internet to find me a room. They had nothing to gain by
doing this and, in fact, by her helping me, they were losing a paying
customer one day early.
If you want something cozy, homey, and want to feel like you're living
IN Jerusalem and not just stationed at some generic hotel, then I
strongly urge you to stay at A Little House in Bakah.
Shalom!
Dan Gordon

To Liat and Adi,
thank you both again for a wonderful 6 week stay at the 'Colony". It
certainly was like staying with friends. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
I really was sad to leave. Even my daughter( who I was visiting) felt at
home.
Thank you all again for a very pleasant stay.

I had the good fortune of staying at the
Little House for 7 days over the Sukkot holiday. This place is pure
user-friendly. From the rooms to the staff to the delicious breakfast
(in the Sukkah!), everything was as comfortable and easy as can be. The
staff went out of their way each day to accommodate a wide range of
requests. I cannot wait until I can stay there again on my next trip to
Israel.

Dear Oded,
Thank you so much for the wonderful facility which our family recently
enjoyed from January 3rd to 10th. You and your staff were all remarkably
helpful and it made us feel "babayit".
While on this recent visit our daughter became engaged to a Yerushalmi and
we will be returning this summer for her wedding. We would love to have the
same unit as before (Dates-5) from July 22 to August 3, 2007.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello from Canada!
Just a short note to thank all the staff at Little House in
Bakah. I enjoyed my 5 days in Jerusalem and your hospitality
and clean & comfortable accommodations played a big part in making our
stay most pleasant in Israel. I enjoyed the dining room and patio
downstairs with it's well presented breakfast each morning. The
bar/lounge was also a very special place to unwind over a beer after a
day of touring. Everyone at the front desk was most pleasant and very
helpful. Hope you all had a chance to try the Pacific smoked salmon I
left as a momento of Canada.
Maurice: J'ai surtout aime nos petites jasettes a la reception de temps
a autre.
Thank you all!

Dear
Friend,
I
just wanted to thank you once again for accommodating us while in Jerusalem.
We had a most enjoyable stay. Our room was well appointed with a good en
suite that include a wonderful bath, a rarity in some places. Most
importantly however was the friendly atmosphere that prevailed. All staff
were always welcoming and accommodating making us feel as if we were staying
in a “home”.
Thanks
to all for their efforts. We have already recommended “A Little House In
Bakah” to quite a number of friends. We will be back.
Kind
regards,

Dear Oded
I am writing to thank you for your kindness and hospitality during my
recent visit to Jerusalem. Having stayed at The Hotel Mount Zion and the
Jerusalem Renaissance among others, The Little House surpassed them in
terms of friendly service and attention to detail. The location of the
hotel is ideal for bus travel and taxi. It also offers a great banking
service across the road and shops just around the corner. The breakfast
was just right. The fresh towels each day were welcome. And the bar area
was a delightful place to sit in the evening. Many thanks again, I look
forward to visiting you again in 2006.
With every good wish,
Father Jerome A.P Fagan

Janet and I, and our three kids, all had a fantastic experience visiting
Israel recently, and I want to thank you for playing such a big part in making
our visit so wonderful. The Little House in Bakah was our favorite hotel,
especially for the kids, which is why we decided to make a second stop there
at the end of our two week trip.
We found you via the internet, and the Little House met all of our criteria
– a family suite, a fair price, a great location, and a personal touch.
Little did we know how lucky we were to find you! The kids felt at home
immediately. I met fellow travelers who were full of helpful information
(including how to avoid jetlag and how to get a last minute Shabbat invitation
for five!) and who were a pleasure to talk to. You went out of your way to
help with the logistical details of our trip. Reserving a rental car for us,
advising us on the best locations for folk dancing, letting us use your
computer to resolve by email a problem we left behind, and getting us a
shuttle to the airport were only a few examples.
We didn’t fully appreciate until we stayed elsewhere the little things
that you do right. Some examples: the best air conditioning system, extra
towels, pillows and blankets readily available, a large refrigerator, a
microwave and a Shabbat plate (blech), beverages available at all hours, great
cable TV stations. And then there were the conveniences of being in Bakah:
easy parking, taxis appearing within seconds, full laundry service for a
ridiculously low price, Anglo shuls within blocks, a great public swimming
pool only a few blocks away, fancy kosher restaurants, felafel stands, and a
McDonalds all within easy walking distance.
We are recommending your place to all of our friends – as a place to
experience a side of Israel you just can’t get at a five star luxury hotel.
Thanks again
Steve Schwartz

Shalom:
We, and several other family members, had the pleasure of being your guests in
June. All of the staff members were very pleasant and friendly. We
especially appreciate Yonatan. When Tom lost his passport, Yonatan helped
locate it, and refused a tip offered in appreciation. It is rare to find
such helpful, caring staff and we appreciate it.
Best regards,

Dear Oded and staff:
Greetings and love from
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
My body is here at home
but my heart is still in Jerusalem!
Oded, the month our
Canadian team stayed at The Little House in Bakah was so special. Having a
pleasant place to return to each night made all the difference. Your wonderful
staff treated us so well and your friendship was an added blessing. I loved
the night we joined you at the Golden Hill Seniors' Home and will long
remember the vibrancy of your dance troop.
May you be well and may
God bless and guide you through these difficult days. You are in our prayers.
Please give my regards to
the precious ladies who took such good care of us, the front desk staff and
that dear Ethiopian security guard. You all have a special place in my heart.
God bless you all.

Shalom to you all,
I would like to thank you, not only for helping us have a wonderful and
enjoyable stay in Jerusalem last week (which we did), but particularly for
your emergency assistance on Monday night. Your help in getting my
daughter's bag into the taxi to meet us at the airport was INVALUABLE!
Thank you for making a difficult situation easy for us!
Again, we enjoyed our stay a great deal, and will continue to recommend the
Little House to people we know coming to Jerusalem, (we hope there
will be
many more).
